Wireless connection doesn't work

Hi!

Something has happened and my wireless connection doesn't work. I tried to update the driver but I got an announcement that there is an update but there was a problem with installing it. The HP wireless assistant won't open. I reloaded it but it still doesn't open. Is there anything I can do or should I just take the computer back to the shop?

taking the computer back to the shop is an option. but you can use the EE to find a solution too.

can you provide more description about your system ?

I'm not sure what kind of information you need. I'm using windows vista home edition.
What is EE? I've tired vista's problem solution but it doesn't detect any problems. I tired recovering the system to a previous stage but it didn't help. I haven't yet used the recovery cd (because I'm lazy and wouldn't want to install all the programs again until I must). I think (but am not sure) that the problem occured when I installed the Nokia N73 programs to the computer. I uninstalled all of it but it didn't help.

I think the wireless solution is HP wireless assistant. I just reloaded it but the program won't start.
The hardware is inbuilt. It doesn't turn on (the light won't turn blue, it just stays yellow all the time).
I think there might be problems with the drivers, when I try to update the drivers for WAN miniports IP, IPv6, L2TP, PPPOE and PPTP, I just get an announcement that there was an update available but there was a problem while intalling it. (The file was not found???) Harware is built by Microsoft but I haven't been able to find anything useful from their netsite.
When I try to create a new netconnection the computer gives only 2 options: modem and DSL, the wireless option doens't show up.

Is it possible that the hardware (wireless card) has been broken or moved a little when I have carried my computer? I run the hardware check-up on the HP site, it didn't find any problems from my hardware. If the problem is in the drivers, where can I get new ones?

The problem is that I can't find the wireless connection to the net at all, it has disappeared totally. Also the bluetooth has disappeared. The installation top should be ok in the device manager, at least to my untrained eye. Every device I click on says that it functions properly (even the hidden ones).

do you have any yello ? or red ! in the device manager ?

goto the networks and check the wireless adapter to be enabled. and enable showing the wireless adapter icon at the start bar. what about the led at your latop?

do you have a hardware keys to enable/disable the wireless/bluetooth. does it work when you use those keys ?

No, there are no colours in the device manager.

The led in my laptop just stays yellow (should turn blue when it's on) no matter in which way I turn the key to put it on. There used to become also a noticement on the screen wheter it is on or off, but it doesn't do that either.

you may try to use diagonistic utilities to make sure the hardware is not faulty

a tool called sandra is suitable for that and is good for beginners too. you can try the right click and repair on the card then use the sandra to make sure if it is working.

otherwise you have to take it to the shop to replace if within warrenty or get a new wireless adapter

I thought I would post this for other people with this same issue.  This is a known issue with some models and if reinstalling the software and updating the BIOS doesn't help you might want to call HP after referring to the following document:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c01087277&dlc=en&printable=yes&encodeUrl=true&

I found the link to that information here:
