How do I leave word open but close all docs (2007)?

Back in 2003 you could close a Word document and Word would remain open. I have a client that wants this back and it doesn't seem to be doing it in 2007 for him and I tested it and had the same result. Couldn't find anything under Word options on an internet search. Is this even possible?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

in the upper left hand corner of ms word click on the microsoft symbol and choose the close option. this will close the document and leave work open
