Import-Mailbox error

I am importing users pst files into Exchange using the Import-mailbox commandlet. Everything seems to hook up but I get an error after each mailbox. The error is below. What will take care of this? Thank you.

"Error occurred in the step: Moving messages.
Failed to copy messages to the destination mailbox store with error:
MAPI or an unspecified service provider.
ID no: 00000000-0000-00000000"

Can you confirm that you have privilages to the mailboxes?

How have you delegated the account that you are running import-mailbox privilages to the target mailboxes?

I am using the administrator account to do this on my new domain. Do I need to give ownership to the administrator of the new domain? I am importing a bunch of pst files.

How were the PST(s) created?

If you test an export-PST and than try and re-import does it work?

I created the PST files from Exchange 2003 SP2. I did a test export and re-import and that worked fine. I can try exporting the pst files again and see what happens. Do you have any ideas?

Are you sure you're using an up to date version of EXMerge on 2003 to create the PST?

I'm assuming you've created the PST using EXMerge, if a differant way please let me know.

I did create the PST files with ExMerge. I also redid it after installing exmerge from the link you provided but I still have the original error:

"Error occurred in the step: Moving messages.
Failed to copy messages to the destination mailbox store with error:
MAPI or an unspecified service provider.
ID no: 00000000-0000-00000000"

Do you have the issues on all mailboxes, or just some of them?

I am having the issue on all of the mailboxes. I tried to use the thread that you posted but I came up with the same results. This time I am getting the same error I have been listing as well as an unknown error with error code -2147221233. Each mailbox is returning one or the other.

Oddly enough if I do a search for 'import-mailbox error -2147221233' on Google this thread is the first I turn up...

I'm out of good ideas on this one, we're pretty much back to basics.  Confirm syntax, check permissions and call PSS.

In the end I used exmerge and was able to move over the PST files.

2GB is still the limit for Exmerge.  Exmerge will create the PST for a larger mailbox.  But  you'll get an error message (approved) when you use import-mailbox cmdlet if you're trying to process a PST for a mailbox.

I was getting this error and had to grant full mailbox access to the user I had running the import.

About "error code -2147221233 Error occurred in the step: Approving object"

I was getting it. My Exchange was a new installation so, although mailboxes had been "created", they never had beeen "used" (so they did NOT yet exist).

I started my Outlook and sent a message to all of them. Now they DO exist.
That resolved my issue. HIH all of you which are burnt with Exchange "Vista" version :-(

Sorry, it's me again. I forgot to say:

Outlook hadn't been used yet in the client; so it did not have a profile. Of course I created it before sending those messages.
