"503 Service Not Avaiable" at printer IP web address

Hello Experts,

I have a HP Laserjet 4000tn printer and a Jetdirect card. If I type in my browser the IP address from the printer, I receive the error message "503 Service Not Avaiable"

I am able to telnet into this printer to change network information, but was curious why the web interface is not working.  Is there a firmware update that fixes this?  If so, how do I apply it?

Thanks in advance.

Did it ever work?  Is the Jetdirect card embedded or what type of card is it?  Have you tried to hard reset it or the printer?

I am not sure this would be something corrected by firmware.  There are many of the HP printers that didn't have the built in web interface.  JetAdmin or Web JetAdmin, Telnet, etc were the methods to configure and access the printer over a network.  If you don't want to use Telnet then Web JetAdmin is what you should use.

Let me know if you have a question about any of this.

After using Web JetAdmin, I found that the web interface was not available for this Jet Direct card.

I was afraid of that.  I wasn't able to confirm it though with the info above and my research.

Thanks for the fun question.  I'm glad I could help.
