How do I limit the size of attachments sent from my company when my emails are hosted externally.

Good Day ,

I host my emails externally on mailtrust.com.  There is a limit from mail trust of 50MB per attachment incoming and outgoing. I want to limit it to 10mb. I already contacted mailtrust and they said they cannot modify the limit.  Would there be any software or configuration on my checkpoint firewall to limit the size of attachment leaving my client machines ?

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming you're using Outlook - Outlook does not provide support for limiting attachments by size, only extension type.

Hi,

using Checkpoint and SmartDefense,
In the Dashboard,
- in the policy editor,
- define, if not yet defined, your smtp server (from mailtrust.comm), in property tab, in products, select smtp,
- edit the property of your firewall object
- select the Advanced tab, and click on SMTP.
- increase or decrease the entry in the 'Don't accept mail larger than' field from 10000 Kb to the size required.
- click OK.
- Install the policy.

This should now restrict the size of the email attachment.
