Do I need SafeCast Shared Components?

I'm trying to free up some space on my computer and found SafeCast Shared Compnents listed under Add or Remove Programs.  It takes up 1321 MB, so I would like to get rid of it if I don't need it.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It looks like it's a component of SoniClear RecorderPro and MeetingPro. If you don't use either of those programs anymore, then you are free to remove this.

You should determine which application SafeCast is associated with, ie..MathCad11. It does not really do anything on its own, but adds to the software product it is associated with to create and verify licenses for authorized users of the software. The software vendors website should verify the necessity of Safecast for their application to run correctly.

gpbrubaker mentions SafeCast being associated with MathCad 11.  I no longer use MathCad 11, but have upgraded to MathCad 14.  Should I assume the same answer applies to MathCad 14?

Most likely then it still uses the shared components. Best test is to remove the shared components & remove MathCad 14. Reinstall MathCad 14 and see if it reinstalls the shared components as well. That will tell you for sure if it's needed or not.

One cannot use the support center without a service contract.  I have decided to just leave SafeCast alone to avoid a problem with MathCad.
Thanks.
