We are a fairly small company, and I was wondering if we should only have 1 router and a bunch of switches or can we have 10 routers?

depends on a situation.
if your company maintains a lot of offices around the globe, possible you should have 10 routers.
but in most cases, if you have one office within one building and couple of windows servers for business one router is enough

Yes, its one location and maybe 30 people use computers here.  We should be using switches rather than more routers though, correct?

Yes, I know about the main router and main switches.  For example, a cable going from the main switch to a set of computers 200 yards away.  Should those computers be hooked up to a switch or a router off of the switch?

I'd say - into a switch, because those 200 yards line is 100 or 1000 mbps
