I am getting a "Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 11." in the server log when I try to login with Server Management Studio

Hey All,
First thanks, in advance.  I am a student, so I have no exposure to SQL to this point.  I did try searching for the answer to this question but could not find one that was relevant to my situtation.    I also tried looking here: http://blogs.msdn.com/sql_protocols/archive/2006/02/21/536201.aspx

I installed SQL Server 2005 on my laptop (VISTA) from the campus library, my laptop will serve as both client and server.  During installation it had me install the SQL Service Pack  for running on Vista.

Here are my settings:
Server type: Database Engine
Server name: CARLOS-PC\SQL
Authentication Windows Authentication
User Name: Carlos-PC\Carlos
Password: Greyed Out

Then i get the following error:

Cannot connect to CARLOS-PC\SQL.

===================================

Login failed for user 'Carlos-PC\Carlos'. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)

You are attempting to use windows authentication passed in as SQL authentication.

Your connectionstring should resemble this:

"server=CARLOS-PC\SQ;trusted_connection=yes;database=YourDatabase"

and not

"server=CARLOS-PC\SQ;user id=Carlos-PC\Carlos;password=YOURPASSWORD;database=YourDatabase"

You mentioned this:
"server=CARLOS-PC\SQ;trusted_connection=yes;database=YourDatabase"

and not

"server=CARLOS-PC\SQ;user id=Carlos-PC\Carlos;password=YOURPASSWORD;database=YourDatabase"

however i do not know where to make that change.
