"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Your best bet would be to dismantle a computer case that has the capability to except both specifications and use the mounting panel to create your template, or use the mounting plate as the template.

You could also use a photocopier  to photo copy the mounting holes directly by laying the motherboard directly on it.

Grind off the rivets, you are looking for a template which you can use over again. If you don't want to dismember a case then you will need to measure it out(you already tried that I believe) or the easiest, photocopy the motherboard.
