Can I change the error message users see

I would like to change the text of the error messages in my domain. Is it possible to change the simple:

"Access is denied."
to
"Stop trying to get in this folder!"

I would like to change these to fit the folders. Thanks!

Not that I know of. I would be changing them a lot!
This is system error, you shouldn't be able to modify such messages.  ;)

Dont think it is Impossible, but will definately take some research on your part....

What is Resource HackerTM?
http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/

Open the app, and under File>Open and start searching System .dlls by going to View>Find Text, and searching for "Denied".

Using Process Explorer, I was able to find the string "Access denied" in userenv.dll, but it wasnt present when I opened it up in RH....

Ill keep playing with it, but I am sure it can be done.....
Found it... It is in Kernel32.dll.....

Most precautions to be taken while doing so. Like tweeter514 I like playing in computer like changing these messages into our own customized message. FYI I was very keen in changing the START caption of windows 95 when I was doing my studies in college, and finally did the same after many attempts. Though it is now easy to do, but in 1995's it was very difficult since there were not more internet connections and forums available. Now let me come to the point.

Tweeter514 Human readable text can be easily identified by us and they will be as the same in the computer files too. Hence it is easy to accompolish the task. For example in my computer I use EDIT.com to open explorer.exe and I will change the name of the documents, control panel, settings etc. To do this First I will take a copy of the explorer.exe file and then I will do changes in the explorer.exe file. But I will take more precautions while doing so. Now-a-days many binary editors are available to accompolish your task. Only the major challenge involved for you is to identify the file where the message resides. Hope now you can start playing, but be very very careful.
You tried it successfully? No problems with the new compiled file?
