PowerGREP so far is the only program I've found so far that claims it can search through numerous text-files, etc for information. However, this is a highly advanced commercial program running at $149. <br />

Are there any known free/Open-source alternatives to this application? I'm just trying to search for &quot;text&quot; through a directory of various documents, and I'd hate to have to buy PowerGREP to only use a small chunk of my money's worth.<br />
