Opening JPEG compressed files in Mac OS X

I have compressed TIFF colour scans which were compressed using 'old JPEG' (tag 6) and 'JPEG' (tag 7), however I cannot open these in my new iMac with Preview.

Usually GraphicConverter can open almost any image format

You could also try these FREE programs

Thanks.  GraphicConverter opens them but the other 2 don't.
