Backup job keeps running but backs up all data.

Hi Guys,

I've searched for this problem before i've posted this but there doesn't seem to be anything listed (unless i missed it) but.........We're running Veritas Backup Exec Version 9.0 on a Windows 2000 server backing up to a Dell DLT1/VS80 Tape drive.
The backups have been running fine untill a few nights ago where we have found that the backup job just keeps running into the following day.
It backs up all the data and in the usual amount of time but just stays at 99% complete with a status of running.
To eject the tape and stop the job we have to restart the services because if we just try to cancel the job it just shows as pending for hours.
I'm assuming this is a common problem but can't seem to shake it.
I've taken of the 'verify data' option to see if that's making it hang and am thinking of taking off the 'add checksum' but obviously don't want to if i can help it and i'm not entirely convinced that this would work anyway.
Any help would be great.

Cheers

I found somebody else with this same issue on the Symantec forums:  https://forums.symantec.com/syment/board/message?board.id=101&message.id=45661

Unchecking the option to eject tapes automatically solved the issue for the original poster.  A Symantec engineer also advised that you configure the job to automatically respond to alerts.

Sorry for the delay in posting back but thanks, that worked.
I unticked the eject media after backup option and it completed just fine and set another job for the morning to eject. It's a pain but it works. thanks again
