How to eradicate old Eclipse projects?

Hi all.  When I delete old Eclipse projects, and then try to reuse that workspace for another project, I find Eclipse remembers something was there before and says something like "this overlaps another workspace...".  Also, when I go to choose workspaces, it never forgets old ones.

How do I eliminate that memory?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The workspaces are stored in "<eclispe_install_dir>/configuration/.settings/org.eclipse.ui.ide.prefs

To remove an old workspace, edit the line "RECENT_WORKSPACES"

Each time you create a new project, eclipse creates a .project file that defines the project. Try removing that file.
