Add CNAME record on DNS for Exchange 2007

I was told by the external consultnat to add a CNAME record to our exisiting domain as a requirement to order to move to Exchnage 2007. What is the rationale behind this ??

Hi,

Did the consultant explain what server the CNAME would be for? The only thing I could think of to create the CNAME in your Internal DNS server would be to configure the autodiscover service. I am not saying there are not other reasons though.
