Is there a way to pick up from a Cisco IP phone on one line from another IP Phone on a different line.

I want to be able to pick up a call coming in on a different line i.e. if there is an incoming call on someone's phone in my office, I would like to be able to answer that line from my phone and not have to walk over to the phone to answer.

Using 2 Cisco IP 7640 phones,

Thank you,

What are you using for call control? If using cisco call manager it's called a pickup group. You put both lines in the same pickup group then you can just press the pickup button to transfer the call to your phone.

Most other systems have a similar function built in.

bfason,

We are using a Cisco Call Manager, I'm trying to figure this out using the CCM help, but its not that clear, we have not used the pickup group feature before on this CCM, can you tell me how to go about configuring a pickup group?

Thank you,

Easiest way is to make a partition for the pickup group. Then go to service>call pickup then add a new call pickup number. I usually use a high number that would not normally match the pattern of any of my extensions like 9999.

Put this in the partition you created then go to the calling search space assigned to the devices and add the pickup partition to the end of the list of partitions accessable by this css. Now when you go to the line configuration on each of the phones you should see a drop down list just below the forward/noanswer/busy section. The Pickup group you created should now be an available selection.

Hope this helps
