You mentioned a firewall - are you on the same subnet as the ESX box when you're trying this?  For troubleshooting purposes, eliminate the firewall from the picture, do all your testing on the same subnet!

When you installed ESX Server, did you make sure that you configured the right network adapter to be the Service Console?  It can be tricky to ensure that you have the right one.  If you have multiple NICs in the server, it's quite possible the Service Console port is not what you think it is.

Hi

Bur in the new ESX the web console is not working as Virtual Center

In this page you can only download the VMware Virtual Infrastructure Client

After that you can connect to the VMware itself

What error does the vi client (or web console) gives when connecting? Make sure you point to the vmware esx server and give your root credentials.

Logon to the esx host console and check if hostd is running (ps -ef | grep hostd) if it is not running start hostd (or try to restart it). service mgmt-vmware restart

Hi

You can ping from houtside  to the Vmware Server? Can you ping the vmware server name?

In the VMware console, check your network settings(ip, host name, DNS, etc.).  If all this is correct and you can ping, from IP and host then go to step 2

2 º Do you have a Service Consle(vSwitch) created?

esxcfg-vswitch l

To check your vswitch, if not, you must create one

3. To Create a new vSwitch (switch3 in my case) and patch a spare physical NIC (vmnic1 in my case) which was available. If not, use your only NIC

esxcfg-vswitch --add vSwitch3
esxcfg-vswitch --link=vmnic1 vSwitch3

4. Next create a Port Group within the vSwitch

esxcfg-vswitch -add-pg=Service Console vSwitch3

5. Next create vswif interface mapped to the Port Group called Service Console  and set it IP and Subnet Mask

esxcfg-vswif -add vswif0 -portgroup Service Console
-ip=192.168.2.102 --netmask=255.255.255.0

6. Restart hostd to make VI Client reflect new configuration

killall -9 vmware-hostd

Hi

Did not understand your last question

About updating the VMware Server, and Virtual Center, is like this. You can downloading the VMware 3.5 from the VMware site, and with that ISO create a CD. Start your server with the VMware 3.5 CD, then you can choose to update your VMware version

But take care of some issues that you can find. Take a look at this

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1003801

You can also update your VMware by vmware console with the command esxupdate. But if you are not so familiar with VMware commands, dont use this option. Use CD start, option.

Abou Virtual Center, just download, and install in your Virtual Center server. But where you can find some issues also.

To update vmware server, virtual server, vmware tools and Vmware Storage, mst have an order.

Take a look at this articles:

http://ictfreak.wordpress.com/2007/12/13/vmware-lots-of-vmware-esx-35-vc-25-links/

And from the vmware site the update manual.

http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi3_35/esx_3/r35/vi3_35_25_upgrade_guide.pdf

Choose your scenario to update

Hope this can help you

Is there a VMWARE VI3 book thats worth purchassing as i am determined to learn this and add this as an additional skill.
I have another as i said before which has no issues other than i need to work out now how to add a NAS or RAID LUN.
I think my other issue could possibly be due to the network card not being supported, as its not on there compatability list.

Hi

Sorry, but where is the right answer?? The question was about connect to ESX Server Webpage Console right? So where is the answer to that question?

If you ask a second question, open a second topic, and ask. I don't ask a second question, and give the points to that second question

So what is the right answer for your problem?
