Wrong keyboard layout in Recovery Console - how to change it ?

When booting from a french Windows XP CD and choosing to go in recovery console, my keyboard layout is Azerty. I would like to change it to a regular US keyboard layout, because my keyboard is a Qwerty - difficult to enter passwords and some commands in Azerty when in recovery console mode . Is this possible ?

1-Boot in "normal" .
2-Opened a command prompt window and went to c:\cmdcons directory
3-Rename (current keyboard file).dll kbdfr.dll.original. (kbdfr.dll is the french keyboard)
4-Copied c:\winnt\system32\kdbus.dll
5. reboot to recovery console

I think kbdus is the one ro it may be en instead of US.. but let me know if not.

When I boot into recovery console, it says press any key to change keyboard layout.  Is this not the same with your cd?  try it, go into recovery console and within 5 seconds press Enter.  Then choose your layout.

sliiconman: there is no C:\cmdcons directory. Recovery console is not installed on the hard disk. I am running it directly from the CD. Can this be done without installing recovery console on the disk ?

markusdamenous: I'll check this afternoon when I'll be at the computer if it displays this option.

Any luck with my suggestion?

markusdamenous, your suggestion worked. I was not paying attention properly at the messages at the bottom. The prompt appears at the very end of the booting process. I tested it booting from the CD in recovery console and also from the recovery console on the hard disk and I get the option in both.

Thanks !
