I do I get to open the database

Thank you all but I still have some problems/ The ACT 8 does start but I have a message upon opening the program (the Data base does not open) that says Object reference not set to an instance of an object. When I click OK (no other choice) the program stops and the following error appears: Cannot access a disposed object named "ActApplcation". Object name:"ActApplication"and immediately after an othr error message that the program had to shut down.
When I run the Act8diag  I have the following message Could not connect to the SQL Server Instance.

I tried both. If I come to Experts Exchange it's because I tried nearly everything at Sage Customer support.

90% of questions I have answered here have been with knowledge base articles because the users hasn't tried every step in a KB.

Can you open a demo database?

No I cannot open anything. Further when I rename the US preference file the program doesnot show me the usual starting process

I have at last been able to install Act 8.
It looks like the problem was that I had Adobe Acrobat Version 7 installed. When desinstalling Acrobat 7 and installing an older version, Acrobat 6 the problem was solved.
Doesno't make anysense to me but here we are.
