Recover an Old Exchange 5.5 Server From Tape

OK here is what I have. My company is currently running a Windows 2003 AD enviroment with an Exchange 2003 server. Seven years ago we had an Exchange 5.5 server. Upper manage wants I.T (me) to take the media from seven years ago which is DLT recover the old 5.5 mailboxes and save the data to our new LTO2 / LTO3 tapes. I have a DLT drive. Does anyone have any sugguestion on how I can extract the mailboxes? Please help

Depending on how the backups were done, I would restore the database files to a recovery server segmented from production and use Exmerge to extract.
