"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

First row shows which pair of wire it is testing
Second row shows there is a break in the line

Break? Looks like a short to me. But you have a problem.
It might also show a low resistance as a short if the other end of the cable is plugged into a device. Still, all the RJ11 plugs I've got have only 4 conductors, so possibly something is wrong with the tester itself.

Sure that's not an RJ17 or somesuch?
