Can't type a single quote.. easily

Hi,

I have a laptop with Vista installed, whenever I press either " or ` nothing is displayed on the screen, but then, when I press it again, I get two.

I've noticed that if I enter "U I get ü - so I'm thinking that it's something to do with my language settings.

How do I turn this "feature" off ??

In Control Panel>Regional and Language Options.

Check your keyboard mapping and Locale.
check also if the umlaut key is not stuck, clean the keyboard (turn the kbd upside down, and tap it)
or test with another keyboard, it can be bad

This seems to be if the keyboard was set to United-States international. When I set it to 'US' it works fine..
I would appreciate a points refund, as I discovered the reason for this problem myself.
I take your point, and appreciate Netman66's suggestion, but it was very vague and 'checking' the keyboard mapping was the first thing I did, but it didn't seem out of place, nor did I see any mention of 'treat quotes as control sequence' or something similar.

Had he have said, ensure that the Keyboard language isn't set to 'United States International' as this causes this behavior, then I'd have fully award the points to him/her.

If you feel that you have to award these points, then feel free, but I've been in situations where I've virtually spelt out to people solutions to their problems in other forums, and they still decide to award them elsewhere, or get a refund.
