data storage and backup(mirroring)

I was thinking is there any software out there that can do some software mirroring or hardware mirroring, my idea is to keep my data from being gone due to hdd failure. Most of the data is video so I guess it shouldn't get corrupted by viruses. Any opinions on how to do that. Maybe compression since i will only recover the data if the hdd is damaged. I heard that emc retrospec can do this.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
