Envelope in the system tray showing up multiple times
Problem. Have a computer that will display up to a three envelopes in system tray when new messages are arriving. What do I change to make sure that no more then one envelope notification show up in the system tray.
does it do this from the start? or after you have opened and closed outlook a few times? if it's the latter, outlook may not be closing properly. after you close outlook, view the processes tab in the task manager, and make sure "OUTLOOK.EXE" is not longer listed. if it is, that very well, could be your problem. if it's not there, then we'll have to try something else
Hello mavrukin,
The display notification may be stuck. Toggle the setting. In Outlook, go to Tools menu > Options > Preferences tab > E-mail Options button > Uncheck the "Display a notification message when new mail arrives" check box. Click OK. Restart Outlook. Go back to Email Options and check the box. Click OK.
Hope this helps!

it happens from start, and then over the time. User leaves Outlook open for a while. I have tried to disable and re-inable the trigger, it only helps temporarely. It seems like some sort of Dll responsible for trigger is not working. This happened after we completely reinstalled the system after virus infection. The system was formated, so there is absolutely no virus or maleware on the system.
I am having the same problem, multiple new email notification icons are appearing in the system tray as emails come in.

I fixed this problem. It was Itunes and Outlook Calendar.
mavrukin, glad you found the problem. So iTunes was interfering with Outlook Calendar.
So wait...? What was the fix? Is it just to uninstall iTunes or is there some setting that can be changed in iTunes?
ASKER
IN Itunes you can tell the software not to integrate with Calendar
