Automated screen capture with php on linux.

Has anyone heard of a way to have a script grab screen captures via php on a linux server? As far as I know it cannot be done, anyone have success with this? Point me in the right direction, if so. I know GD can on Windows, but what about a solution for nix?

That is what I thought. However one of my customers says that his developer called me names I'd rather not repeat while saying that he could make it happen with php. Probably a liar.

We are probably unable to solve the issue of people calling each other names on Experts-Exchange! ;) What we can do is to share our knowledge. As far as I know, it is a feature which has been requested on the web, but no solutions is provided yet. It is possible that some professional programmers can create extensions for PHP which let them use browsers in Linux environment in a simillar fashion. Whether that developer has this capability is not to be discussed here.
