I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Running WSUS v3.0 is recommended over WSUS v2.0 as 2.0 had a number of issues that are now fixed.

Be sure to follow http://sbsurl.com/wsus though.

"How does one check/change proxy server protocols etc on sbs 2003?"

You would know if you are using a proxy server.  What this generally refers to is having ISA Server installed on your SBS.

"How does one backup the wsus database as suggested?"

Of course you should run a FULL backup of your server before attempting to do any sort of upgrade/installation such as WSUS 3.0.  But there's no reason to just back up the WSUS 2.0 database, because if the upgrade to 3.0 fails you need to do much more than just restore a database file.

"Is thre not a problem with ie7 after deploying wsus 3?"

What specifically are you talking about?  There are no unresolved issues regarding IE7 and WSUS 3 as far as I know.
