Power MAC - 6500/275 needs USB connectivity.
I have a 6500/275 Power MAC - I would like to add USB connectivity to it.
Can I use a USB PCI card?
Can I use a USB PCI card?
Yes, the drivers are on any Mac OS Install CD 8.6 and later. You have to do a custom install of the drivers from the CD after the PCI card is installed. I assume you are running Mac OS 9 on this computer? OSX will be all ready to go, if you are running a variation of it.

we are at about 8.5 or so. it is pretty old.
Try this. These old updates are still available online. OS 8.6 is required for this USB driver package.
Download Mac OS 8.6 Update here:

Apple USB Driver package 1.3.5 here:

With the PCI card installed the driver package should at least give you usb 1.1 capabilities.

thanks - we will see if we can upgrade - the guy is using it as an engineering device and needs to be able to run the CAD software.

Is there a process in upgrading from the existing version to the newer version that you had mentioned above?
thanks

yes, the installer should run from your desktop. I don't believe you need a startup disk for this update
