PPTP RRAS VPN connection failing...

Customer had a working RRAS connection for serving PPTP using their SBS 2003.  Something changed over the weekend and it has quit working.  The connection hangs and times out on the typical Verifying Username and Password.  Error code is 619.

I can start a PPTP connection from the server to itself, but not from any client on the LAN or from any remote user.  Performing a PPTP Ping using pptpsrv and pptpclnt shows that I can move packets to the server from either a LAN client or a remote client.  It must be failing in the authentication, but I can't seem to locate it.

I am suspecting a recent update from Microsoft may have caused the problem (just because nothing else that we know of changed), but really don't have anything to confirm that.

Any thoughts?

Found the problem.  The customer was using a smart switch to sniff traffic on the Internet port.  The port that was receiving the monitoring was also the PPTP server.  Therefore, it was getting multiple copies of the packets.  The server assumed that this was an attempt to bypass security and blocked the PPTP.

Thanks for your help.
