Backup Software Recommendation

We currently use Symantec Backup Exec for our tape backups on our servers.  Does anyone recommend another product? Symantec is just terrible.  I've been having a terrible time with licensing issue on purchased agents and software from them and give up.

What a nightmare they are to deal with!

You can try CA/BrightStor ArcServe - but BackupExec is pretty much the standard.  And yes, they are aweful - I avoid them whenever I can... especially in Antivirus solutions.

They are indeed a pain to deal with at times, but as far as quality of the product.. it is the best out there in my opinion.

I avoid them while I can aswell, especially antivirus, but BackupExec makes me sleep well at night. :)

I like Windows backup - but not with tape.  If you were doing a backup to disk, I would (and do) definitely use Windows Backup.

It is SO funny to see that I'm not alone in avoiding Symantec products.
