Disable Auto_Open Macro when Opening Spreadsheet

I have a spreadsheet which resides in a trusted location. It has signed macros (via code signing certificate), one of which is an AUTO_OPEN macro.

How can I prevent the AUTO_OPEN macro from executing when I open the spreadsheet for maintenance.

nike_golf's suggestion should work

but for some reason it doesn't, you can write a snippet at the start of the auto_open to exit if some specific condition is met, like if the shift key is pressed, or if there is a file called maintain.txt in the same folder.

It doesn't actually "not execute" auto_open but it will prevent the main code being run, which I guess is what you want.

cheers!

Thanks Nike_Golf, but holding down the SHIFT key does not prevent my AUTO_OPEN macro from executing.
