i try to run http://localhost/index.php and it asks me if i wanna download or open the file. it dsnt run it. rest all other file types working fine with localhost (IIIS6)  any thoughts?

It could be accc to me the security settings they have(all high) in IE 6.0 or it could be something I messed up.

you will need something to process the PHP file...

II6 Manager -> Web Sites -> Default web site -> Properties -> Home Directory -> Configuration button
and look up PHP file extensions, it should have a program listed for this type, if not, you need an application to process it for your server.

de, the program is indeed listed and is the file php5isapi.dll   so it dsnt appear to be the problem
Cant be IE if you server isnt processing them...
For some reason your isapi interface is not running the php5isapi.dll, do you have access to php4isapi to test?

Check the above page and make sure the IIS 6 settings are the same also.

You will probably have to stop then start the web service for it to start work also.

Ensure the permissions are also enough for web_anonymous user.

de: what you have written in the latter part above was done by my friend also (gotom**ting). We are now getting some connectivity errors to Oracle 9i. However, what I write here pertains to the server at work as what happens here matters, not my home laptop.

I think so what you wrote about IE might be very true. I will get back after trying some steps including yours.
