I need to increase the number of ip addreses my dhcp issues

I am running out of ip addresses, I need to add another 254 addresses.  I would like to lengthen my existing scope 10.109.198.0 to 10.109.199.254 (subnet 255.255.255.0).  I need help in doing this.  All of the steps to do this would be greatly appreciated.

log on the the DHCP server..

open admin toold -->> dhcp

expand the dhcp server that holds the scope

righ click on the scope you want to expand.

choses propties and chance the start and end address to what you require..

done

it should update the subnet mask automaticaly... so you wont need to change this on indivual pc's.

that should be it

the scope that I have now is 10.109.198.171 - 254.

I changed the scope to 10.109.198.171 - 10.109.199.254.  the error that I get is the specified range either overlaps an existing range or is not valid

well how many scopes have you got?? and does it over lap?

and you are right that will not be valid..

10.109.198.171 is not a vaild starting address.

you need to have a leagule subnet range..

so it will need to start at 10.109.198.0...

if you want the first  170 address not in the range then you can exclude them from the scope later..

the range you give has to be able to have a vaild subnet mask.. If you want me to expalin that better jsut say ;) but its a bit long winded, but if your intrested look up subnetting..
