Outlook 2007 Spelling and Auto Correction

I can't get the Spelling and Auto Correction to work in Outlook 2007.

 I just did a custom install of Office 2003 SB without Outlook and then installed a standalone copy of Outlook 2007. Everything seems to be working fine but I can't get the Spelling and Auto Correction to work.

Does anyone know what would cause this not to work?

Tools->Options->Mail Format->Editor Options->Proofing.

You should find all you need there as long as you have proofing tools installed.

Hello bugsbey,

Outlook 2007 needs Word 2007 for Spelling and Auto Correction to work.  You can uninstall Word 2003 and install Word 2007.

Outlook must be set to use Word as its editor.  In Office 2007, Word is used by default as the editor and can't be turned off.  To the best of my knowledge, you will have to upgrade to Word 2007.

I have a couple other users that have this same configuration and their Spelling and Auto Correction are working. Also, what would happen if you only had Outlook installed with no Word? Are you saying that the spell checker would not work?

That is correct.  Without Word, Outlook spell checker will not work.

I just called on of the other users with this setup. I guess they didn't notice that it wasn't working either. Why would Microsoft not include that inside of Outlook 2007 stand alone install? Anyways, thanks for everyones quick responses.

I am having a similar issues, but I'm fully upgraded to office 2007. my auto correct and spell check are not working in word or outlook, and all the settings are correct. any ideas?
