No fan control or temperature showing in ntune

Hi, I have bought myself an inno3d graphics adapter equipped with the Nvidia 8800 GT chip. I found a pretty god how-to guide on overclocking the card with the Nvidia ntune utility. My problem is this: You can choose between automatic or manual fan sped and the card is supposed to transmit the temperature of the gpu to the program. I can't do the former (the radio buttons are blanked out and non-responsive) and there is no showing of the temperature. Apparently it is possible to adjust the more delicate settings, but I would'nt gop into that without knowing anything presice about the effects on the temperature. Can anyone help me out? I guess it has something to do with the Mainboard (Asus A8n-SLI Premium) or som registry setting, but franly I have no idea. Anyone who has?
Thx in advance, Plovfure

You have an ASUS motherboard. I hate to tell you, but I ran into the same thing. ASUS disabled this control with their new Q-Fan control (which sucks). I returned my ASUS and got an EVGA 680i. There is no way around it... you cannot control the fans other than with Q-Fan in BIOS.

To be more specific:

ASUS P5N-E SLI 650i (fried after 3 weeks) with EVGA 8800GTS 640MB... no fan control
Exchanged with NewEgg for
EVGA 680i with same EVGA 8800GTS 640MB, EVERYTHING is controllable

With the ASUS, I tried "FanSpeed", nTune, and PC Probe II... no fan control

Thank you! You disappoint me :-)
But that's what truth-telling usually is about!

How about riva tuner? It is apparently a lot more hazzle, but it is supposed to work?

And about q-fan, where do I find this setting. And is there anyway to read off the temperature?

With RIVA Tuner, I was able to control the video card's fan only. Still no CPU fan control. Sorry, forgot to mention that one.

If you look in your BIOS, you should see the Q-Fan control option. It is just ENABLE or DISABLE. Q-Fan will essentially run the fans at the slowest speed possible and keep temps within reason; the opposite of what you are probably trying to do.
