Deploying Thin Clients

I need to deploy 4 HP t5720 at a branch office immediately.

I have the devices but have never used the before.

A business decision has been made to replace desktop P.C. as they die with these devices, so eventually I will have 50-60 of these types of devices.

All of our users will be using citrix
I want our users to have shortcuts on their desktops to citrix , access to their local printers and favorites to be saved but that's all.

Currently on my test device, I have tried roaming profile and folder redirection but both of these have not been satisfactory. Either one keeps the printer or citrix shortcut on restart.

Is there a recommended profile manger/software that I can use to deploy and manage these devices.

I am new to the thinclient experience so any help anyone can offer would be great.

Thanks
Liam

You can configure the terminal services roaming profile in their user account properties in AD.

This will make allow terminal server/Citrix connections use a roaming profile,  but logging in to the local device won't use a roaming profile at all.

One thing to note,  when connecting to a Citrix server from a client with locally configured printers...you need to make sure any third party print drivers in use by the client are also installed on the server.  If not,  you will not be able to do the automatic mappings of printer devices when connecting to the Citrix server.

If you have a single Citrix server,  you don't need to worry about roaming profiles because the profile will be stored in the Documents and Settings folder on the Citrix server itself.  If you have a Citrix farm,  I would recommend roaming profiles so that load balanced connections across the different Citrix servers use the same profile for the user.

Because of the way were are setup, ODBC connection etc.. we would like to use roaming profile on the thin client and static profiles on the citrix servers.

Is this possible ?

The roaming profiles would just be used for favorites/local printers etc..
