Acronis Incremental Backup Question

I was wondering when setting up scheduled incremental backups with Arconis, how does that work? Because to do the incremental backup you have to choose the lastbackup archive as the target. If you set it to start automatically.. you can't choose the backup archive that was created last, it'll always point to the archive you set it to point to when you first setup up the scheduled task.

That is the way it is. Let say, you did a full backup then setup incremental backup schedule, it backups only changes since last backup. Changes it will go to same archive as target, if not it does not know what changed.

Okay let me explain a bit more, I don't think my question was understood completely.

When you do a standard back with a method of incremental, firstly, you do a full backup as you know (lets call the file FULLBACK). However, when you come back to do the next back up you actually choose incremental as the method this time. Upon completion of this backup another backup file is created (now lets call this one FULLBACK1) and then when you want to do the next incremental backup you would choose FULLBACK1. Now when that completes it would produce another file in the backup chain, FULLBACK2. Now lets say next week you wish to do another backup, this time your target file would be FULLBACK2, so the process would then produce FULLBACK3.

However my question is.. if you start fresh (assuming the full backup has already been made) you would schedule an incremental backup using the target location as FULLBACK1, and from then on out for whatever date you set it to backup on it would know to use only FULLBACK1 on this day. How would the scheduled task know to point to the newly created backpup archive each time it is ran? Because for an incremental backup to work you have to choose the latest created archive, in which case.. since this is a scheduled task, it wouldn't know this and FULLBACK1 would remain as the target.
Seems that you want a differental backup, not incremental though. I might be wrong, but it is worth to drop a call to Acronis and hear what they say.
I found my answer through another forum board, thanks anyway.
