What do I need to backup in Exchange server 2003 w/BUExec for DR solution?

We are running Exchange server 2003 with BU_Exec10d.  The backup is currently backing up all mailboxes and IS.  I just want to ask for some help sifting through all the information as regards what is needed for a good DR solution.  Some have said that the priv and pub db's are all that is needed.  Is this really so?

Sorry...let me clarify.
DONT backup the physical database files (file system).
Use a VSS or streaming backup agent (BE10 exchange agent)

If you try and backup the EDB/STM file via the file system, you may/will have serious database issues.

When you backup the private and public stores via the agent (not file system), this will result in a proper backup.

Doing the mailbox/brick level backup is up to you, but it is generally not required.

I personally never do brick level backups, only ever do IS backups.
With the recovery storage group/deleted retention time, this should be sufficient for per item recovery.

Thanks for the quick response.  I am using BU Exec and after checking the mdbdata folder, it is not backed up.  However, the stores are.  The solution you mentioned requires using Exchange, which is fine, but from BU Exec with the mailboxes and stores  backed up, do I need to do anything else?
Also what about the priv and pub db?
