Tape Drive Firmware update

How do I update the firmware on an IBM Half-High LTO Gen 2 drive.  This tape drive is installed in a NetWare server.  All of the tools I've found are Windows based.

I would be very surprised if the only way to update IBM firmware was with Windows.  Most of their utilities are Linux-based.

In fact, if you download the IBM TapeTools .ISO and burn it to a CD, it's bootable.  You can use the IBM tape tools either via Windows autostart, the Linux command-line or boot to its own Linux system.

For a NetWare server you have to take the bootable option.  Boot from the CD you create, update the firmware, then boot NetWare again.

talk to IBM...
HP have a firmware update utility for Netware. see if IBM does aswell.
If they don't, then ask them what method to use.

One way, ofcourse, would be to remove the tape drive and stick it in a windows box temporarily to do the update.   May seem drastic but in reality is pretty easy to do.
