Project configuration skipped because it is not selected in this solution configuration
I've inherited an unmanaged C++ solution, building with VS2003 (we keep saying we'll move to 2005 and now 2008 is available, sigh).
The solution builds just fine, except for the message in the title. The vsproj responsible for generating the question builds just fine when I build it on its own (Solution Explorer | right-click the project | Project Only | Build Only project-name).
What could be different about this vsproj that keeps it from building like all the others in the solution?

Doh!
Thank you, jkr, that is exactly what the problem was.
evilrix, I'm afraid you gave me entirely too much credit!
Thank you, both.

Select the Solution node in the Solution Explorer and selected the node's property sheet (see Figure 14). In the Configuration Properties panel ensure that the checkboxes under the Build column are all checked for the Setup project.
