sendmail configuration for ubuuntu

I am trying to setup sendmail to relay e-mail to a third party. Is there a basic setup for this. I have setup what I think is correct but get a message:
Relaying denied. IP name lookup failed <194.0.174.190>
What does this mean ???

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

HI
The ip lookup shows its internal ip address so to relay to third party you need external address and also check for the ports its going through in iptables

here you go look at this info which is for debian and sendmail :
http://www.aboutdebian.com/internet.htm

All i would suggest is to use exim instead of sendmail as its easy to configure
to install exim4 type  this command  apt-get install exim4
for more reaserch into it ::
http://newbiedoc.sourceforge.net/networking/exim.html

Please select yes on right hand side "is this what you were lookin for yes and accept solution|"
