I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Seems very unlikey... Your favourites are held in c:\documents and settings\<username>\Favourites.

Check this folder and see if it's empty, if it is, then your favourites have been deleted!

If they are in there, then IE must not be recognising them for some reason... Anyway let me know if they're there or not first!

The location given above is where the Favorites are kept in Windows XP.  The correct location for Vista is:

c:\users\<username>\Favorites

If that location still has entries but IE is not picking them up, then the registry may be screwed up.  Type Windows key and R to open the Run dialog box, type REGEDIT and hit enter, then look in the following location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

When you click on the last subkey (Shell Folders) in the left pane, you should see a value called Favorites in the right pane which is set to the location of your Favorites folder.  If it's not there or has an incorrect value, then you can create/edit it so it is correct.
