Export flash to mpg/avi/wmv at runtime

Hi,

We have a dynamic flash presentation that changes depending on data from a server.  We would like the ability for users to export this to a "movie" file for posting elsewhere - perhaps YouTube.

Can this be done and how (the exporting bit, not the posting on YouTube bit ;-))

Many thanks.

James.

Can you show an example of this flash presentation?

Is the data on the server user generated?

so you need to make this game replay into a movie? It is possible, but it is too heavy to process. As there is no built in function to export movies, you would need to capture the frames as bitmaps (this can be done through BitmapData class), and send those to the server to create a movie file from the images - but it is to heavy.

So I'd say it is not possible. But you can have your users to download the swf locally. You should save the game moves in , let's say, xml, then the user could download an offline version of your swf with the xml.

Unless you really want it and are able to create a server application that based on the server game data, create the animations and save it to a movie file, but it would be very expensive (in all ways). In this case it IS possible, but really not simple.
