When using Act to write a letter in Word Ireceive this error -attempted to read or write protected memory. I am using Vista business with Vista office and word 2008. I have updated my SQL to 2008.

What do you mean by "I have updated my SQL to 2008"?

ACT! uses SAL 2000 or 2005 depending on the version of ACT!

There is a bets of 2008 and it has worked on this before. I am using Act 10

ACT! 10 installs SQL 2005 - you cannot update the SQL used by ACT! as it wouldn't know what to do with it

ACT! 10 users it's own instance of SQL 2005.  In theory, you could install another version of SQL (older or newer) but I bet that messed you up.

I'd uninstall SQL 2008 and reinstall ACT!.
