Im making a web site for work, I want to have a folder thats contents will be listed automaticly on the page, without me having to edit the form. IE I want users to be able to drop forms off in the respective folders and they appear on the web site with no other intervetion on my part. The site is being coded in sticktly html at the point.

So you want everyone to access the content?

You can create an anonymous ftp and let people dump files on as they wish

What's going to be the contents of the folder?  How will users get that information in there?

No its an internal web site, I can give users permission to dump files in there I just dont want to have to update the html for every link to each file.

Its a folder on the web server, users will put files in there, and on the page it will autoupdate and people viewing it can see them.

What kind of files?

Just create an internal ftp site and link to it as ftp://localaddress/

Give them anonymous permission to delete/create/modify files & directories

Then they can do what they want without you bothering

Internet explorer should let them browse through it as folders on a desktop.

However, you could just create a network shared drive if its all internal in the same office...

There pdf's and I cannot do the share drive, your missing the point.

I want users to be able to dump the files into a folder to be accessable by the web site from outside. My users are not the brightest and will never figure out an ftp, Im honestly surprissed they know how to log in sometimes.

Okay, there is no way with straight HTML to read the contents of a folder and display it on the page.  If the users are just loading up stuff through the file system, then you need to use some form of server side scripting to read the file names of that directory when the page is accessed and build an array of the files.  You then step through the array and print each file name as a link.

Have the folder accessable by web server.

Turn on directory browsing for that folder.

If there is not a default page in the folder (index.htm) it will display the listing of the directory where the files will be displayed aa links and you can click and "save target as" and download the file.

browser based ftp is very simple, they probably wouldnt realize it is an ftp....

with internet explorer its just like browsing a folder... if they cant browse folders then you have serious problems... lol

Underseven: the folder via web browser wont allow them to upload files to it... he still needs a method to do that.

I guess he could make a page in php/asp to upload files but the ftp based solution is probably the fastest/easiest.

You have no idea the proplems I have sometimes, Ive had users complain there computer dosent work, I go over there because I cant remote in and its not even turned on. This is IT hell here sometimes. Hell my favorite from a week ago was a user stated there keyboard stopped working I went to look, they turned the pc around and was using the exhaust fan as a hand warmer and knocked the cable out.
