How do I replace DNS Server

How do I replace DNS Server in my current 2000 domain. I tried to Ghost it to the new box , but it blue screened. They are different brands. I rebuilt the new box , and will change the name and IP once I get the WINS stuff over.

Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Is it just a DNS server or is it a DC as well?

If you are preparing the new server to replace existing one, then you need to configure it the same way and have the same components installed. Is it the only DNS server you will have or you have other DNS servers as well? You may take copy of zones configured on the existing DNS server and configure them on the new server.
