ws_ftp pro synchronize utility how to delete files after transfer

using ws_ftp pro and server for file transfers, which works fine. I would like to delete certain files on local and remote sites after sucessfully synchronizing them. I'm not sure how to do this with the sync utility or some other scripting. I have to be sure the files(s) have been successfully transferred before deletion.

with WS_FTP, you don't need any delete or synchronization.  When you upload files to the website, they automatically overwrite the existing files.  So you have the current on the hard disk, and the current on the website.  WHat more do you need?

If you are using this program to SYNC folders between network drives, it is the WRONG application for that.

You should use a network file sync utility, which are designed to do what you want.  WS_FTP is not.

www.smsync.com/
www.tgrmn.com/
www.linkpro.com/
www.goodsync.com/

There is maybe 100 more.  They all check the files are in sync before deleting anything.

The sync is done in both directions, job orders from central to field engineers, job results from field engineers to central. When job is completed and ftp'd to central I need to delete it on field engineers laptop.

Here is a question you need to look at -- the questioner himself discovered that "WebSynchronizer" could synchonize two directories via FTP, and it seems to me this is the field of software you want --

In particular, see his closing comment at the bottom of the thread.  It should help you in your quest.

Thanks, but I'm looking for a ws_ftp solution not an alternative. We have ws_ftp purchased and installed in a number of remote locations around the globe, working nicely. Just trying to raise the bar on the current implementation to increase the level of automation.

Hi, Glad you found your solution. Mind sharing the answer please? We need a one way sync from server to client, then delete off server.Sounds like what you were looking for, I cant make it delete after transfer.

I use the latest version of ws ftp server and client. I have 3 folders on the server and 3 folders on the client to sync. I use 7 .ctl files to do this. I put the 7 .ctl files in a dos batch file to execute from the client side. I put the .ctl files in order of execution to sync first and then delete. Each .ctl file does one job only, to sync or to delete.  I set the delete sync such that it does not delete if the sync failed.
