What is better? 2.00GHz - 1 x 4MB cache OR 1.60GHz - 1 x 8MB cache

I need a Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP server for hosting dynamic websites.

These two servers are EXACTLY the same price.
                Single Processor Dual Core Xeon 5130 - 2.00GHz (Woodcrest) - 1 x 4MB cache
                Single Processor Quad Core Xeon 5310 - 1.60GHz (Clovertown) - 1 x 8MB cache

Which is better?  One has more cache and one has a faster processor.

I think clock speed for your purposes.

Since those apps are multi-threaded, I would go with the quad core xeon with the 8MB cache.

Probably much the same, but assuming you are going to have a lot of tasks runing at once, I would go for the Quad core.

Unless you are running some badly written software on this box, I doubt that the CPU will be the bottleneck anyway.  Probably spend most of it's time waiting on the HDDs.  If it's a public web server, the constraint will probably be bandwidth.

Quad is better, even if the dual has a higher speed

Databases benefit from more cores, and I would think the 25% faster cpu would only be beneficial for heavily compute-bound processes, like rendering or mathematical calculations.  Go with the slower quad core.
