Event IDs 8026 and 8031 in the event log then SBS 2003 freezes. Then runs fine for a few days and then repeats
I am stumped on this one. On SBS 2003, the 16 MB application log fils up with loads of 8026 and 8031 event IDs ovr just a couple minutes - hundreds of 8026 then hundreds of 8031 then it repeats.
Then the server freezes up / people can't access the shares and we reboot it. then it runs fine for a few days (3 - 8 days - it varies) and the problem reoccurs
The text for the errors are:
Unable to open LDAP session on directory 'SPOCK.domain.local' using port number 389. Directory returned the LDAP error:[0x1] Operations Error.

LDAP Bind was unsuccessful on directory SPOCK.domain.local for distinguished name ''. Directory returned error:[0x51] Server Down.
EventID.net talks of more complex systems than ours (just a single SBS server) and / or DNS errors that look OK when I look at the DNS server control panel.
any advice would be greatly appreciated.

the client is an accountant and he has some accounting apps running on the sbs server. We 'played' with the server a while ago and problems went away. then I noticed the problem came back recently / months later and when I asked him about it, he said he was told that one of the apps (efile Cabinet?) was coming out wiht an update soon that will solve this?
his machine is 3+ years old now and I've been telling him to proactively replace the server since this problem started. when he finally does, I also told him he should put the accounitn apps (lecerte, efile, etc) on another server.
