Exchange 2000 incorrectly handles receive limit
Exchange 2000 Enterprise as Backend hardware cluster.
We have NO limits set for receive, either for mailbox size or message size.
However, when someone attempts to send us an email of at least 22 Megs (not sure of the lower limit), they get an NDR back with error 5.2.3.
We recently had a SEND message size limit set at the Message Delivery global option of 20 Megs. As a test, this was removed and set to default of No Limit. After restarting the SMTP service, we are able to RECEIVE the 22 Meg and larger emails. Ideally we would like to keep our SEND limit in place, but be able to RECEIVE any size emails.
Any idea as to what is going on here? Why is Exchange treating the SEND size limit as a RECEIVE limit?
Thanks

Yeap, did as the KB article said and it seemed to correct the problem.
Also apply the latest service pack. Might be a bug.
