symantec, Backup Exec, 10.1, B2D

I would like to know what the media Overwrite protection and
Append settings should be to achieve 30 days of backups using Backup Exec 10.1d.

Currently I have the settings at 30 days Overwrite protection and the Append period set to None and Infinite Allow append.
Problem I am having is that when the B2D media folder gets to a very large size Backup Exec can no longer handle the size and quits backing up. Then in order to get backups working again I have to create a new B2D device and media folder.

Where do I find the option to set ALLOCATE MAX SIZE TO BACKUP TO DISK FILE option? Also the NONE In the Append period settings is greyed out in the Media Set Properties unless I change the setting INFINITE-ALLOW APPEND to hours, days or weeks instead.  Should this be changed in the Media Management under the Tools / Options / Media Management - Set Application Defaults instead? I have the Device properties setting to 0  RESERVE DISK SPACE. I looked at the Veritas support link documentation but it is still not  real clear to me.
set it to 0 hours
Go to the properties of the B2D folder to check the option to ALLOCATE MAX SIZE TO BACKUP TO DISK FILE
